According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, a male body was found in a tent at Buckingham Campground. It is believed that the body was there for an extended period of time based on the condition in which it was found.
Visitors to the area believed they may have found a deceased person and notified authorities on the afternoon of July 29 at 4:22 PM. The responding Boulder County Parks and Open Space ranger was able to confirm their suspicion.
The case is still under investigation, but foul play is not suspected. Identification and cause of death will be determined by the coroner.
Buckingham Campground is located near 4th of July Road, west of Nederland, Colorado. It's quite high, nestled at an elevation of 10,100 feet. This often means difficult access and late season snow. While it's close to the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, it's considered a City of Boulder Mountain Park.
