The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a bicycle and automobile hit-and-run that happened Friday evening near Sterling.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, law enforcement responded to a call on Logan County Road 43.5 just northeast of Sterling, of a woman riding a bicycle being hit by a motor vehicle.

When deputies arrive they spotted the 54-year-old woman with serious injuries and had her transported to UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital.

Authorities say that the woman was riding north on county road 43.5 when a vehicle struck her bike from the rear, and sent her onto the roadway.

The vehicle fled the scene.

State Patrol officials are seeking any information about the crash and are encouraging anyone to contact investigators immediately at 303-239-4501.
