UPDATE: Lanes reopened at about 9:45 AM following an extensive clean-up effort. Read more about the accident below.

At 8:39 AM on Thursday, a crash involving two semis was reported by Broomfield Police, closing lanes on I-25 and causing major delays.

Two northbound lanes of I-25 were closed just north of Highway 7 at mile marker 229.5. Two semi trucks were involved in the wreck, but no other vehicles. No injuries were reported.

A 9:15 AM update showed that clean-up was still underway and reported that traffic continues to crawl by the scene in the remaining open lane.

Images from the scene show light snow on the road. Whether or not slick conditions were a contributing factor has not been released.

No estimated time of reopening the lanes has been released and major delays are expected. An alternate route is recommended at this time.
