Home to just over 100,000 residents and nestled at 5,430 feet above sea-level, Boulder, Colorado is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. It ranks high in education, outdoor recreation options, and arts, making it no surprise that the city recently received national acclaim from during their annual ranking of spots around the country.

A spot they describe as “where an unrivaled natural setting and the energy of an urban playground meet,” Boulder slid into 7th place among America’s cities between 100,000 and 500,000. The ranking aims to identify places that are the “most desirable for locals, visitors, and business people alike.” Reno, Naples, and Santa Fe topped the list, in that order. See the full list here.

While Boulder fell in the “small cities” category this year, that wouldn’t have been the case a decade ago. During the 2010 census, Boulder was home to around 98,000 residents.  Today, the city is home to an estimated 107,000. In 1990, Boulder was only home to an estimated 86,000 residents.
