An ambulance responds to the scene of an emergency.

A crash involving a bicyclist and a dump truck on Monday afternoon left one person critically injured, the Aurora Police Department said.

Police said the collision happened in the right lane of northbound South Havana Street at East Exposition Avenue, near Expo Park. Police announced the incident at 3:22 p.m. Monday.

The bicyclist was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Their current condition is unknown, police said.

Police said the driver of the dump truck stayed at the scene after the collision.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. Police closed portions of South Havana Street for several hours Monday evening to investigate.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn’t spoken to police or who has video footage of the collision is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a $2,000 reward.
