Highline Lake State Park is best known as an “oasis in the desert,” with two majestic lakes, vast green spaces, scenic trails, and amazing sunset views. Soon, it will also be home to a new beach house.
Beachgoers can officially say goodbye to long lines for a restroom at the swim beach area. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the new beach house will feature twice as many bathroom stalls and a larger family restroom. The project is expected to be completed by Sept. 1.
“Many people have been visiting state parks during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said CPW Northwest Regional Manager JT Romatzke. “So it seems appropriate that projects funded by Great Outdoors Colorado and the Colorado Lottery through state parks will be part of getting the economy back in motion by getting construction work moving again.”
Other additions coming to the state park in 2020 include a handicap accessible picnic area.
Highline Lake State Park, located in the central corner of the state, offers water-skiing, swimming, fishing, picnicking, and camping. Campsites are available for both tents and RVs. It’s also important to note that Highline Lake closes to boating every year from October through February.
Here’s a look at where it’s located on the map.
Also opening soon in Colorado is Rocky Mountain National Park, the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and Hanging Lake. For a full list of outdoor recreation spots that are open and closed around the state, click here.
