Two incidents involving stabbings occurred at Belmar Park in Colorado early Thursday, one of which resulted in a hospitalization and another that resulted in a death, possibly due to observed knife wounds on the body. Reports of each incident occurred within a 7-hour period.
A man was hospitalized after being stabbed in a downtown Lakewood park on Thursday morning, August 15, 2019.
According to the Lakewood Police Department, two adult males were in Belmar Park when another adult male approached them, stabbing one of them multiple times before fleeing the scene.
The stabbed victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
The incident was reported to police at about 12:05 a.m. According to initial reports, the stabbing took place near the Lakewood Heritage Center at 801 S. Yarrow Street. The map below shows the location of Belmar Park.
The suspect in this stabbing is described as a white or Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and 150 pounds with short, black hair, and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with some sort of emblem on it and black pants.
The Lakewood Police Department responded to another call that same morning from an individual who had been walking in Belmar Park. The individual reportedly found what appeared to be a body at the Colorado Fire Fighters Memorial at about 6:55 a.m., August 15. When authorities arrived on the scene they found a deceased adult male with several apparent stab wounds.
