I always carry a bag with warm clothing including hat, gloves and thermal socks. I also carry Uno and dominos, pen and paper, and mace for protection.

Also a lighter, and a large empty coffee can with lid and roll of toilet paper for going potty, and a couple of tin cans. If you take medication regularly, always have a couple of days worth to tide you over.
