According to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, a massive search will be launched this weekend, August 17-18, for Chinese National Yunlong Chen in the Vail area.

Chen was reported missing in March following a ski trip in Colorado, though snow and winter weather conditions impacted the search effort at that time.

A team of roughly 60 searchers will use ground, aerial, and canine tactics during this push. Vail Mountain Rescue Group is in charge of planning the operation and they’re working with Vail Ski Patrol and a number of other search and rescue operations. They plan to scour a vast area of Vail Mountain and the surrounding terrain, which is quite expansive and rugged.

Yunlong Chen, 55, was reported missing on March 7, 2019, following the planned conclusion of a trip to the Vail area on February 28th, 2019. Various reports have pointed to last known moments Chen was active, including a lift scan on Vail Mountain and a possible sighting at the Vail Transportation Center on February 28.
