UPDATE: As of 11:40AM, Breckenridge has announced that they’re “open with limited services.” Keystone also has limited terrain open, as well as limited services. Here’s a quote about the incident posted by Keystone Resort on Twitter: “[We are] experiencing impacts from a county wide Excel Energy outage- a result of a natural gas issue on their system. Adtl. updates will be communicated if anything changes.”

Breckenridge Ski Resort and Keystone Resort closed Friday morning due to a power outage affecting more than 17,000 customers in Summit County.

The outages were reported about 7 a.m. Friday, according to Xcel Energy, Summit County’s electricity provider.

Xcel expects to have the power failure fixed between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Editor’s Note: It is unknown how long resorts will stay closed after power is restored.
