UPDATE: I-25 have reopened. See more travel news here.

I-25 has closed in Colorado between the Colorado Springs area (Monument) and Castle Rock as blizzard conditions hit the Front Range. Snow is simply “falling too heavy to keep up with.” The Denver Post had reported that roughly 1 to 2 inches of snow per hour was expected to fall in the area.

The weather hitting the state is part of a snowstorm that was expected to cause major travel pains along the Front Range and in mountainous areas of the state. Multiple blizzard and winter weather warnings were activated as the storm approached. As the storm continues to hit, it has already shut down parts of I-70 and closed a mountain pass.

In addition to the closure on I-25, alternative route CO 83 is also facing a closure.

A number of other closures are present in the state, including the following. See CDOT.com for additional information on closures.
