Summertime is for rest, relaxation, and adventures that shake you from your regular routine. Colorado Springs, Colorado, one of the Centennial State’s most beautiful cities, is the perfect location for getting away with your sweetheart. Set amongst some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the state, Colorado Springs offers something for every couple. From hikes to brewery tours, from luxury spa experiences to outdoor recreation, you can immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Colorado Springs and enjoy the adventurous getaway you’re looking for. In partnership with Visit Colorado Springs, we’ve put together an awesome two-day itinerary to guide you through a memorable couple’s getaway in Colorado Springs this summer.

Day One: Hiking, Exploration, and Relaxation

After checking into one of the area’s cozy B&B’s or cabins, head out on your first Colorado Springs adventure. One of the best aspects of Colorado Springs is its proximity to the mountains and outdoor recreation. Spend the morning on one of the many hiking trails that lead into the alpine, and if you and your significant other are up for a challenge, give the infamous Manitou Incline a try. Beginning in the town of Manitou Springs, this trail runs up the side of the mountains along an old cable car route. In less than one mile, you’ll gain 2,000 feet of elevation, and after about one hour of climbing, you’ll be rewarded with unparalleled views of Colorado Springs and the surrounding Pikes Peak Region. If you’re looking for a more moderate hike with amenities like a Visitor Center, try Helen Hunt Falls in North Cheyenne Cañon Park. You’ll find a beautiful waterfall and a hike that takes you up above the falls to Silver Cascade Falls.

Once you’ve finished your hike, have lunch in the charming town of Manitou Springs. The town is famous for its natural mineral springs. Over the course of many years, an enormous amount of rainwater and snowmelt from around the Pikes Peak region has soaked into underground rock fractures. As the water heats and mineralizes, it flows upwards into limestone caverns where it becomes carbonated and eventually returns to the surface, filtered and free of contamination. You can taste water from the various springs on a walking tour, and a map can be found either online or at the Manitou Springs Visitor Center.

After lunch, you’ll be ready for that rest and relaxation you’ve been waiting for. Head to the Garden of the Gods Collection’s Strata Integrated Wellness Spa, a full service spa and salon. You’ll find nine luxury treatment rooms designed specifically for rest, relaxation, and healing. You can choose from a menu of massages, treatments, pedicures, manicures, and more.

Before you head back to your cozy property for a good night’s rest, try one of the many restaurants in downtown Colorado Springs for dinner. From steakhouse fare to Italian cuisine, you’ll find something that’ll please any couples’ taste.

Day Two: Outdoor Adventures, Brewery Tours, and Local Art

Day two also starts out with some outdoor adventure. If you can get up early, sunrise at Red Rock Canyon Open Space is 100% worth it. The red sandstone rocks light up in the morning sun, illuminating the wildflower covered mountainsides and framed by beautiful views of Colorado Springs and the surrounding area. One of the best ways to bond with your significant other is to learn a new skill or try a new activity together. After sunrise, stick around Red Rock Canyon Open Space for a private half-day guided rock climbing experience with expert guides from the Front Range Climbing Company. You’ll learn climbing basics and get out onto some incredible rock during this four-hour adventure.

Head back to Old Colorado City for lunch at one of this historic neighborhood’s many restaurants and cafés, and then finish your trip with a brewery and gallery tour. There’s truly something everyone can enjoy in this booming craft beverage scene, and with the free Crafts & Drafts Passport from the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, you can truly taste your way through the Pikes Peak Region. The passport features discounts and deals at 24 local businesses, including coffee shops, breweries, distilleries, and restaurants, so that you can experience all that the Pikes Peak Region’s craft beverage culture has to offer. If it’s enjoying local art that you’re after, you can take a self-guided Public Art Audio Tour around downtown Colorado Springs. Download the free GPS-based app, “Otocast” from Google Play or iTunes. Downtown Ventures has added more than 30 new audio clips for works that are part of the city’s permanent collection.
