DAY 2— Snowy adventures and shopping

For the morning, pick one of the many outdoor activities available. There are more than 55 kilometers of groomed trails around Crested Butte for both classic Nordic and skate skiing of all abilities. Swing by the Crested Butte Nordic Center where you can rent skis, snowshoes, and sign up for private lessons, clinics, backcountry tours, and more. Kids ages 15-years-old and younger can rent equipment for free. You can also go ice skating for free at the Big Mine Ice Arena.
If you’re looking for a fast and exciting way to access Crested Butte’s expansive backcountry, you can rent snowmobiles. Different companies offer guided or unguided tours on the extensive trail system. Burt Rentals Snowmobile Tours, Colorado Adventure Rentals, and CB Motorsports Inc all offer snowmobiling packages and rentals.
After playing in the snow all morning, head down to Elk Avenue for an afternoon of shopping, sightseeing, eating, and soaking in the colorful Old West downtown. Grab a hot slice of pizza from Secret Stash Pizzeria. Ready for a beer or cocktail? Head to Talk of the Town, a classic CB bar with a juke box, lots of games, and Happy Hour from 3—8 p.m. Don’t forget to check out the beautiful local artisan galleries all along the street. Before leaving, get a good dose of Crested Butte history at the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum, where there are always interesting events and displays on the town’s storied mining history. Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 2—6 p.m., the lower lobby will host Colorado Crafted, with some of the best breweries, wineries, cideries, distilleries, and local fare from around the Centennial State.
