Weather got wild in the Denver metro area today as big rain flooded streets and marble-sized hail banged up cars. The storms struck during the afternoon, hitting the western suburbs and Northwest Denver the hardest. As a result, fire crews responded to several calls from people with cars stalled in high water. Rain and scattered thunderstorms are predicted to continue throughout the rest of the evening.

An earlier storm also hit the Denver area. The flooding from this first round of weather is the reason that Campus Middle School in Greenwood Village closed on Wednesday, as well as why lanes of I-25 were shut down on Wednesday morning. Denver received an estimated 2 inches of rain.
