In a Thursday morning press release, Arapahoe Basin announced that they would not be opening today due to extreme avalanche danger in the nearby area. Loveland pass will also likely stay closed.

The press release mentions that Arapahoe Basin is working with the Colorado Department of Transportation on this situation. They’ll be posting another update when they’re able to reopen.

Arapahoe Basin has received 17 inches of fresh powder in the last 48 hours, 14 of which has fallen in the last 24 hours.

Avalanche concerns have posed big threats in Colorado as of late, closing mountain passes and engulfing vehicles on an interstate.
