A longhorn got loose and ran wild through the streets of downtown Colorado Springs on Friday, August 2, 2019.
The longhorn was a part of the Ride for the Brand Champion Ranch Rodeo cattle drive, which is meant to showoff cowboys in action to a large crowd of spectators.
The video below shows this massive-horned animal weighing between 1400 to 2200 pounds making its grand escape across Tejon Street, charging crowds of spectators, and running into the Gallery of Contemporary Art. Parade spectators can be heard screaming as they run in fear and out of harm’s way. One spectator can even be seen holding a baby just feet from the raging cow.
This wild longhorn chase didn’t last long. Cowboys participating in the annual ride quickly jumped into action, roping the longhorn around the neck and legs. Spectators cheered as the two cowboys wrangled this cow safely back into custody. No injuries have been reported.
The rodeo will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Norris Penrose Event Center. For more details about this event, click here.
