Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park
America's only mountaintop theme park is located in historic Glenwood Springs. It's home to one-of-a-kind thrill rides, cave tours, and amazing views of the Colorado and Roaring Fork River Valleys. Located on Colorado’s Western Slope, at the top of the Iron Mountain in historic Glenwood Springs, it is America’s only mountain-top theme park.
Arrive at the park by Scenic Tram, a beautiful gondola that will take you to the top of the mountain for your day riding the Ferris Wheel, playing Wild West themed laser tag with your family, or enjoying a 4D animated adventure in the 4D Motion Theater.
After a morning of fun, your family will be ready to refuel. Grab a bite at the Lookout Grille situated on top of the mountain. They serve burgers, sandwiches, and vegetarian options; there's truly something for everyone, including a kid's menu and a full bar. Relax and rejuvenate by enjoying lunch on the outside deck.
The afternoon is for thrill rides and cave tours. Glenwood Caverns' newest ride, the Haunted Mine Drop, is not for the faint of heart. It's the only drop tower ride in the world that travels over 110 feet underground, and it's been rated the #1 best new amusement park attraction in the United States by USA Today. The Giant Canyon Swing, perched on the edge of Glenwood Canyon over 1,300 feet above the Colorado River, swings out over the canyon at over 50 miles per hour. After the stomach-dropping Canyon Swing, head to the Cliffhanger Roller Coaster, the nation's highest elevation full-sized roller coaster, and then on to one of the longest roller coasters in the state, the Alpine Coaster, ripping down the mountain for over 3,400 feet. Finally, if you're up for one more big ride, jump on the Canyon Flyer, the ultimate version of the classic carnival ride (though this one swings over the edge of the mountain!).
Glenwood Caverns is so named for its impressive caves and cave tours. The Park offers the largest "show cave" in Colorado, showcasing organic natural formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, soda straws, and cave bacon. You can enjoy these caves on two different 40-minute walking tours, both great for kids. There's also a two-hour, spelunking ‘Wild Tour’ that takes you deep into rarely visited areas of Glenwood Caverns.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is open year round, though some rides are seasonal. Be sure to check the ride status online before heading to the park.
