Cottonwood Pass, a route that can be used to connect Buena Vista to Crested Butte, is finally set to reopen after long term closures and heavy construction that started in spring of 2017.

Currently, the route is projected to open on June 21, 2019. Delays are to be expected throughout the rest of the summer due to ongoing construction.

Cottonwood Pass is an extremely scenic drive, offering ample opportunities for camping. Perhaps most exciting will be the shortened route that this offers from the Front Range to Crested Butte. How much this might shorten the drive is not known at this time.
