At 5,800 feet long, the brand new Rocky Mountain Coaster at Copper Mountain is one of the longest thrill rides of its type in North America. Found near the American Flyer lift, this attraction will operate year round, dropping riders 430 vertical feet at an average grade of roughly 11%.
Here’s a preview of the track during construction:
One thing that’s especially cool about mountain coasters is that they put the driver in charge of the speed via hand brakes that can slow down the speeding cart. This allows the ride to be as intense or as tame as each person wants.
The Rocky Mountain Coaster will cost $25 per ride or $35 for two rides as a driver and $10 for a single passenger ride or $15 for two passenger rides. Drivers must be at least 9 years old and passengers must be at least 3.
