Lookout Mountain Road closed Monday in both directions from the entrance to Buffalo Bill’s Museum to Windy Saddle Park and Chimney Gulch Trail after an attempted suicide, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Police shut down the entire roadway to ensure no vehicles became trapped in the midst of the investigation. The narrow and winding nature of the mountainous road makes it difficult for vehicles to turn around.

Windy Saddle Park is a popular outdoor recreation area offering 3.5 miles of hiking and biking trails. It’s located on the north side of Lookout Mountain in Golden, just about 30 minutes from the city of Denver.
