4 Clever DIY Projects for Your Worn Out Skis

Vail, United States – January 10, 2015: Here’s a creative way to recycle snow skis…turn them into colorful lawn chairs!

You know those skis that are lying around at home, the ones that are irreparably broken? Or are so worn down that you can’t sell them? And the ones that have too many good memories to part with?

These skis may have reached the end of their on-snow lives, but they aren’t garbage and don’t deserve to sit in your garage. So put your old planks to use with these four easy DIY projects. These four ideas are great ways to transform your old skis into usable, everyday household items. Well, maybe not the shot-ski…

1. Make a coat hanger

Ski coat hangers are functional and a great way to show off your old skis. Really old skis work well for this (if your grandparents skied, you are a lucky duck), but any will do. Attach hangers with screws and then mount them on the wall horizontally. Or, secure multiple in a circle to make a stand-alone rack.

2. Turn them into a wine rack

Attach a base, drill a few holes, and voilà! You’ve transformed your shred sticks into the ultimate après-ski spot in the form of a wine rack.

3. Build a ski chair

There’s no better way to honor your old planks than to make them into furniture and curl up in them after a long day on the slopes. Adirondack ski chairs take a bit longer to build and require some power tools, but they look great and are perfect for porches and decks.

4. Create your own shot-ski

Cheers to your ski adventures by transforming an old pair into a shot-ski. Whether you are taking shots to Ullr (the Norwegian snow god) for more snow or are just looking for a unique wall decoration, you never know when a shot-ski will come in handy.
