A structure steeped in history, the Hahns Peak Lookout Tower is one of the oldest fire lookout towers in the Centennial State, originally constructed in 1912. During this time, people viewed the construction of this building to be symbolic of the Forest Service’s commitment to protect the beautiful land in the area.
The Hahns Peak Lookout had a long stint during which it fell into decay due to weather and lightning. However, it was repaired with the help of the Historic Routt County, the Forest Service, and a group called HistoriCorps.
