Come summer 2019, a new, state-of-the-art concert venue will be open in Denver.

The Mission Ballroom, encompassing 60,000 square feet, will anchor a massive development at the north end of the River North Art District, aka “RiNo,” on Brighton Boulevard between 40th and 43rd streets, AEG Presents Rocky Mountains announced Monday.

Westfield Co., a Denver developer, is overseeing North Wynkoop, the 14-acre mixed- use project with the Mission Ballroom at its heart.

“Our entire AEG Presents Rocky Mountain team spent the last 11 years searching for the perfect location and the right design to build one of the finest venues this town has ever seen,” said Chuck Morris, CEO of AEG Presents Rocky Mountains, in a news release.

AEG Presents Rocky Mountains is owned by The Anschutz Entertainment Group, a subsidiary of The Anschutz Corp., which owns Clarity Media Group, including The Gazette.

The Denver-based AEG Presents Rocky Mountains operates 1stBank Center, Fiddler’s Green Ampitheatre, Ogden Theatre, and the Bluebird and Gothic theaters.

The new ballroom will have a movable stage that can be tailored to entertain 2,200 to 3,950 guests, sight lines of the stage from any VENUseat, VIP seating, and top-notch sound and lighting, Morris said in the news release. The large dance floor will allow for extra seating or standing, and several full-service bars will be in the venue.

“It is the future of Colorado’s live experience,” Morris said of the venue in a promotional video.

Said Gov. John Hickenlooper, also in the video, “It’s going to be one of the great spaces in America.”

The venue’s risers will be built and spaced similarly to those at Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison and configured to produce “a perfect sonic experience,” said Don Strasburg, co-president of AEG Presents Rocky Mountains, in the video.

Westfield said the RiNo neighborhood and arts district will be transformed into an “arts and entertainment hub.”
