According to a press release from the Aurora Police Department, a body was found on Sand Creek Trail during the historic “bomb cyclone” that recently hit Colorado on March 13. Though whether or not this death was suspicious was information that was previously not released, it has since been announced that this death is being investigated as a homicide. This likely means that extreme weather was not the cause of death, as some initially thought.

The portion of the Sand Creek Trail where was body was found parallels East Fitzsimmons Parkway and is close to the Light Rail parking lot. People discovered the body while looking for a runaway dog. The body was removed from the trail the next day due to extreme weather conditions on the day it was discovered.

The victim has since been identified as 24-year-old Martin Galdamez-Galdamez. Anyone with information can report it anonymously to the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. There is a reward of up to $2,000 being offered.

Sand Creek Trail is a regional greenway trail that stretches 14 miles in the Aurora area. It passes Environmental Park and eventually links up with High Line Canal Trail.
