A man’s body has been recovered from Fountain Creek near Pueblo.

According to a Facebook Post from The Pueblo Police Department, the man’s body was discovered on some sort of watercraft in Fountain Creek around 11:10 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019.

Fountain Creek is a 927-square mile watershed located along Colorado’s Central Front Range. It encompasses the municipalities of Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Fountain, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls, Woodland Park Palmer Lake, and Monument.

Officers and detectives worked with responders from the Pueblo Fire Department to recover the body from the waters of Fountain Creek, located near East Ash Street.

A preliminary examination of the body revealed no obvious signs of trauma, and detectives believe the body has been in the water for approximately one week.

The name of the victim is not being released until next of kin is notified. The official cause of death is pending an official announcement from the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.
