An avalanche occurred on Wednesday night that resulted in the shutdown of Loveland Pass, according to a tweet by the Golden branch of Colorado State Police. The pass was to remain closed overnight until the Colorado Department of Transportation could have a chance to safely manage the situation.

According to a post by the Denver Post, Loveland Pass remained closed as of 7AM on Thursday morning.

With lots of early season snowfall, avalanche dangers have been high this year, with dozens already observed throughout the young 2018 ski season.
