We are here for you.
WHO WE ARE.
We are storytellers and local experts. We aim to inspire, inform, and guide you as you seek meaningful experiences beyond the screen. We are a small but mighty team of 7, bolstered by an incredible group of collaborators and contributors from across Colorado.
Together we’ve climbed 85 fourteeners, we’ve skied over 1000+ days, we’ve lived in Colorado for over 92 years, and we've spent 100's of nights under the stars. We explore, we seek, we yearn for more, outdoors. We are storytellers, programmers, entrepreneurs, designers, conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts.
HOW WE GOT STARTED.
We were born at a newspaper at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. We saw the importance of telling local stories about incredible places in our community. So in 2015, we struck out on our own, with a mission to inspire the world to explore the incredible places in their own backyards. Since the beginning, we have been deeply inspired and humbled by journalism and the exceptional storytellers who make it their craft. We admire local newspapers and national publications alike and we treat journalism as the gift that it is. We’re proud that it’s in our DNA.
Behind the Curtain
Founder & President
Stephanie has over 18 years of dedicated media industry experience. When she is not giving 110% to the company, she can be found running the trails at Garden of the Gods Park.
Julian is a 3-time entrepreneur with a background in operations, finance, and fundraising. His companies have been featured in Time, Outside Magazine and USA Today. He enjoys fly-fishing and hiking with his family.
Director of Business Development
Craig has a broad range of professional experiences, predominantly with large media companies in Colorado. Craig's love of the outdoors was born while growing up in upstate New York and today he is an avid skier, hiker, and proud dad of an outdoor enthusiast family.
Sophie brings extensive editorial and digital content marketing experience to the OutThere project. She's an avid skier and dreams of powder days even in summer.
Director of Audience Development
After obtaining his Master’s degree in New Media, Technology, and Society at Purdue University, Spencer moved to Colorado in search of something more than cornfields. When he’s not engaging with the OutThere audience, you can find him somewhere on a trail or in the climbing gym.
As an 8 year Army Veteran, Stephen spent a lot of time in the outdoors but never in the exciting capacity that he does now. Rock climbing, running, camping, and/or photography make up his ideal weekend. He spends as much time as he can in the outdoors with his little adventure buddy Ollie.
Lisa's love of the outdoors started at a young age while camping, fishing, hiking, and biking with her family. As a Colorado native, she planned for the day she could move back to the area. She is excited to use her experience in sales, combined with her Communication degree, to help outdoor adventure-seekers find the perfect gear to use and the next activity to enjoy.
Seth preferred the nomad life (Chicago, Missouri, Minneapolis, Baltimore, Alabama) before coming to Colorado in 2016. He's looked for stories everywhere he's been, and here he's finding his favorites: strange and inspiring.
Ollie is a hiking pup through and through. He is an experience alpine dog with over 30+ fourteeners under his belt and loves camping, hiking, and running across the Colorado mountains.
