The 8-year-old boy suffered several serious injuries from the August attack in Bailey, Colorado. While mountain lions don’t typically attack humans, there have been at least three encounters this year. One trail runner was attacked during the spring and a hunter was attacked in August.
At the time the boy was attacked, initial reports from Colorado Parks and Wildlife indicated that he was playing on his trampoline with his brother. He got off of the trampoline to head to a neighboring yard and that’s when the attack occurred. The mountain lion released the boy as his father approached. The mountain lion was caught and killed following the attack, along with another mountain lion in the area.
A verified GoFundMe page has been set up to help with expenses related to the boy’s recovery.
