Grab your most competitive friends, and take your outdoor adventures to the next level this summer. From cross-mountain relay races to whitewater paddling events, from an amateur and pro extreme sports showcase to a multi-day cycling race across Colorado, this list of heart-pumping Colorado events will make the summer of 2018 your most adventurous yet.
1. Reebok Ragnar Colorado
If you and your friends are into incredible mountain vistas, fields filled with wildflowers, and pushing your physical endurance, sign yourself and 11 of your closest buds up for the Reebok Ragnar Colorado race. The race, totaling 200 miles of terrain, runs from Copper Mountain to Snowmass Village over a two-day, one-night period from August 10-11, 2018. You’ll travel on mountain bike trails, bike paths, and backroads past six of Colorado’s most famous ski towns, through the White River National Forest, and along the Colorado River.
A full team roster consists of 12 runners, and the start time is based on the average of each of your team member’s 10k finish time. If you’re an experienced distance runner, you can register as an Ultra team of six runners. The teams split up the legs of the race in a relay format, so each participant will have the opportunity to run three to six legs of the race. If you’ve never experienced running in the mountains at night, you should jump at the chance to snag one of the nighttime sections. There’s nothing like the exhilaration of running under the stars and in the crisp mountain air.
One of the best aspects of the Reebok Ragnar Relay is that it’s in Colorado. Make a long weekend out of the Reebok Ragnar Colorado relay by building in some extra days to explore Copper Mountain and Aspen-Snowmass areas’ attractions, including incredible hikes, great restaurants, and fun night life.
