From running to mountain biking, live jazz music to stargazing, there are opportunities for everyone to get out and enjoy the weekend.

1. Bloomapalooza

Bring your young explorers to the Butterfly Pavilion this Saturday where they will learn how to protect pollinator species and their habitats with plenty of fun, hands-on activities to choose from including a scavenger hunt, plant petting zoo, seed toss, and ladybug release.

2. Colfax Marathon

On your mark, get set, GO! Lace up your running shoes for a weekend full of races at the 11th Annual Colfax Marathon. In addition to the marathon, there is a half marathon that runs through the Denver Zoo, a 10-miler around the Mile High City, several relays to choose from, and a family-friendly 5K. Stick around for the big after party following Sunday’s races with free beer by Michelob Ultra.

3. Chimney Rock Night Sky: Stars and Galaxies

Spend your evening stargazing in the remote, unique landscape at Chimney Rock National Monument. You’ll learn about the Ancestral Puebloans who lived below the spires, how they used their surroundings to view the night sky, and what astronomical events they may have seen. Visitors will then head up to the High Mesa parking lot after sunset, listen to local astronomers and view planets and stars from telescopes.

4. Grand Junction Off-Road

If you’re looking for a mountain bike race with a view, look no further than the heart of Grand Junction. Participants will ride on up the world’s largest mesa surrounded by red sandstone cliffs and weathered canyons. Riders can choose between three different race distances: 15, 30, or 40 miles. After crossing the finish line downtown, racers can hop right over to the Downtown Music Festival with live music, plenty of food, a beer garden, and several bike industry expos.

5. Five Points Jazz Fest

Come celebrate the history of the neighborhood once known as the Harlem of the West with a day packed full of live jazz music. Denver’s Five Points was once lined with jazz clubs home to many legends of the genre including Miles Davis. The hardest part of your day will undoubtedly be choosing which of the 41 local bands performing to listen to.
