According to data from the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC), at least 346 avalanches occurred from March 1 to 7, 2019 in Colorado. This is a number that is expected to rise as the CAIC is able to process additional reports. Of these avalanches, between 30 and 40 were determined to be destructive.

Problems resulting from these avalanches were widespread, called “historic” by many. These avalanches have caused skiing deaths, resort closures, and major issues on the roads.
