A vehicle and body has been located in Colorado's Black Canyon.

According to the Montrose County Sheriff's Office, the body of a young male presumed to be 18-year-old Walter Kent Jackson, a student from Western Colorado University, has been located in a remote area near the city referenced only as the Black Canyon. While this city near where Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is located, it's unclear exactly where in the canyon the body was found and the canyon is quite vast. The body was also found with a vehicle.

Confirmation on the identity of the discovered person is pending. Jackson was reported missing on Wednesday last week with initial cell phone records putting him in the area of northwest Montrose County. A second look at his cellular location put him east of Montrose County on Thursday afternoon. This information eventually let to the discovery of the body and vehicle.

Additional details in the case have not been publicly released.

This is a developing story.
