The weekend was hard on outdoor enthusiasts in the Colorado high country, and conditions are expected to worsen this week.
A 64-year-old assistant U.S. attorney from Denver died Saturday in Rocky Mountain National Park, and a 54-year-old Estes Park woman reported missing in the park Saturday was found unresponsive Sunday morning.
An overdue snowmobiler and two cross-country skiers were reported missing in Mesa County on Sunday afternoon as a snowstorm moved into Colorado, and medical rescuers rushed to Big Thompson Canyon after an ice-climbing accident was reported late Sunday afternoon.
Details of the ice-climbing accident were not immediately available.
The skiers eventually were found safe, and the Mesa County Sheriff's Department said Sunday evening that a man "self-rescued" after he had been snowmobiling with a group and became separated and lost at about noon.
The identity of the Estes Park woman found Sunday morning off a trail on Flattop Mountain had not been released late Sunday. She was reported missing Saturday, said park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson.
