Big meeting tonight on the Manitou Incline

The inter-governmental agreement for managing the Manitou Incline flew through a Colorado Springs City Council meeting Monday with very little discussion.
I expect a rockier proceeding tonight, when the Manitou Springs City Council takes it up during a special work session, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Some in Manitou remain concerned about the parking problems associated with the mega-popular trail, and that city's Parking Authority Board has asked the council to delay a vote until a parking study is complete.
At least one council member, Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon champion Matt Carpenter, is also opposed to opening it.
The council can either forward it to their agenda Feb. 28, which is what Mayor Marc Snyder prefers, or send it packing, which would put a real damper on hopes to have the trail open to the law-abiding public by this summer.
Check back here tonight for a report on what occurred.
