Avalanche warning reissued

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center has issued an avalanche warning for southern Colorado after some mountain passes got up to 18 inches of snow over the weekend. It is still snowing in some areas, dumping on weak layers that easily can slide.
Beware: Expect delays on Vail Pass on mid-mroning on Monday as crews try to mitigate any avalanche danger!
The warning issued Monday includes the northern and southern San Juan mountains. The danger is "high" in this area. It is "considerable" throughout much of the state, however, so all backcountry users should be aware of their surroundings at all times.
New snow amounts in the last 24 hours include 14 inches at Red Mountain Pass, and 16 to 18 inches at Molas and Coal Bank passes.
We've got an avalanche awareness story and photo gallery coming Wednesday. In the meantime, check out these avalanche safety tips!
