The 10th Annual Beacon Bowl and Avalanche Awareness Day will be held Saturday at Arapahoe Basin.
Beacon Bowl entrants - professional and recreational divisions - compete in timed trials to find a buried beacon. Yes, there are prizes.
But even if you don't know a thing about avalanches or search and rescue, you can test out the latest avy gear, attend a clinic and learn more about avalanche safety.
There's also a raffle and silent and live auctions.
All proceeds go to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, an invaluable source for Colorado's backcountry users.
Registration is $25 and includes a New Belgium beer, slice of pizza and raffle ticket. Register between 8 and 10 a.m. on the first floor of the A-Frame or between 10 a.m. and noon on the hill.
Raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the day. The silent auction begins at 3 p.m. and the apres ski party at 3:30 p.m. on the first floor of the A-Frame
