Olympic Training Systems is teaming with the organizers of the 34th Annual Chieftain Spring Runoff to bring two-time U.S. Olympic team coach Joe Vigil and Steve Jones, former world marathon record holder and winner of the New York City Marathon, to Pueblo for a running seminar.
The seminar is scheduled March 3, on the eve of the annual Pueblo run. Vigils' seminar will focus on motivation and will outline a 12-week training program for the Bolder Boulder, a Memorial Day 10K in Boulder.
Vigil's college teams won 19 national championships and other teams he has coached won 14 international events including the Olympics, Pan American Games and World University Games. He was seven times head coach at the Cross Country World Championships.
Jones broke the world men's marathon record in 1984 at the Chicago Marathon in 2:08.05. His career best was 2:07.13.
The event is 2:30-5 p.m. at the Center For American Values, and then continues with the Spring Runoff's pasta dinner.
Registration deadline is Feb. 17. Cost is $60 for the seminar and banquet; the training program is extra.
