(Archive photo. You'll find a lot more snow out there this weekend) What would I do if I wasn't working Saturday? I'd slap on some cross-country skis and visit Paint Mines Interpretive Park near Calhan. This geologic wonder is a delight in warmer weather, and I've always guessed its gentle up-and-down terrain would be a lot fun in the snow. Take off the skis when you reach the bizarre rock formations and play in the snow. This snowstorm has brought 17 inches to Calhan, with drifts of up to 3 feet reported in places. Click here for more on the park. As of this writing, however, many roads out east remain closed or treacherous, so I would wait a few hours or head out Saturday. |
