Up to a foot of snow expected to fall in high country

GRAND JUNCTION — Residents of western Colorado are preparing for more snow as a winter weather advisory goes into effect.

The advisory goes into effect late Wednesday. The storm is expected to bring widespread rain and snow in the valleys and moderate snowfall in the mountains. Up to 12 inches of snow is expected.

The snow is expected to spread to the Front Range on Thursday, bringing heavy snow to the Eastern Plains.
