A group of snowmobilers enjoys a winter ride. This is not the group affected by Saturday's avalanche.
By Nancy Lofhom, The Denver Post
The snowmobiler who died in an avalanche near Steamboat Springs on Saturday has been identified as Tyler Lundstedt, 24, of Fort Collins.
Lundstedt was buried in an avalanche after the snow machines he and his brother Jordan Lundstedt, 21, were riding became stuck. The brothers were walking across a snow field near Grizzly Creek campsite when an avalanche overtook them.
Jordan Lundstedt told rescuers he was able to stay partially on top of the snow by using a swimming motion. By the time he found his brother, who was wearing a beacon, Tyler Lundstedt was dead.
Lundstedt built a snow cave, where he was found by his father late Monday afternoon.
