A third avalanche-related death in the past week in Colorado's high country was confirmed Monday by the Winter Park Ski Resort.
Christopher Norris, 28, of Evergreen, was buried in snow just before closing time Sunday on Mary Jane Mountain, according to The Denver Post.
Norris was found in the trees off Trestle Trail after he was reported missing at 5:15 p.m. by friends.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center is investigating the incident. The CAIC raised the avalanche danger in Colorado to "high" over the weekend.
A man "outskied" an avalanche on the south side of Loveland Pass on Saturday, according to witnesses who watched the slide on a face called The Professor, visible from Arapahoe Basin Ski Area. They said the skier who triggered the avalanche was the third down the slope. He was not injured.
A 13-year-old boy died Sunday in an avalanche while skiing on Vail Mountain.
Longtime Aspen-area resident Keith Ames died on Burnt Mountain in an avalanche Jan. 18.
