Copper stays open despite power outage
Sunday, January 22, 2012 15:10

It appears Copper Mountain's lift continued to crank throughout the afternoon so powderhounds could enjoy the best snow day of the season Sunday.  (Yep, that's Copper in the photo!)

Operators had to switch four lifts to auxiliary power after power was knocked out nearby late Sunday morning.

Skiers and snowboarders posted on Facebook that it was a great day on the mountain, and it appeared many, if not most, would remain to enjoy at least 9 inches of fresh snow.

The ski area offered guests a free lift ticket if they wanted to come back another day.

Check out these POWDER shots from Copper and other Colorado ski areas!

UPDATE:  Here's a statement from Copper about the power outage.
