Big Mountain announces April trail race
Thursday, January 19, 2012 08:49

Cheyenne Canon in April.  Sounds like a great place and time for a trail run.

And, fortunately for local runners, Big Mountain Adventure Racing is holding a half marathon, 10K and 5K right there and right then.

The inaugural Big Mountain Trail Run will be April 21.

Here's how the organizers decribe the course: "The 1/2 marathon has adventurous and rugged single track, challenging hill climbs, and descents that open up to amazingly scenic views along dirt roads. The trail courses through mountains, stone hops a slow winding creek, crosses dark and historic tunnels, and offers a fast and exhilarating descent to the finish."

Does sound like an adventure, doesn't it!

The 10k "starts off with a tough climb, but soon gives way to some fun single track switchbacks and stunning views." The 10K is 90% singletrack!

Don't think the 5K won't be a challenge. It also begins with a climb and is 100% singletrack. The turnaround "offers an incredible view of the city, the mountains, and cliff sides." Sounds like a reward for the halfway point!

Registration is open at the Big Mountain Adventure Racing website.

Cost:  $25 for the 5K, $30 for the 10K, and $40 for the half marathon.

See you there!

Big Mountain also has two adventure races planned:  June 23 in Green Mountain Falls and Aug. 18 in Woodland Park.
