So, on Sunday I was all about sharing info on a few extreme-type obstacle races coming up. Today, I'm writing about the 3rd annual Glenwood Insurance Endurance Challenge at Sunlight.
If you're in good shape, love winter sports, and you want a challenge, this is for you.
The goal is to run, hike, ski, board and/or snowshoe in 12 hours as many laps as you can of a course up and down Sunlight Mountain -- up Rebel and down Beaujolais. (See approximate course in map, above.)
You have until Feb. 24 to train.
The Endurance Challenge is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 25.
You can race solo or as part of a 2-person, 4-person or "firedrill" team (2 or more). 4-person teams can compete relay style, with one person on the course at a time. Firedrill teams can have all members on the course at any given time. (That way if you were behind the leader by only a lap or two at, say, 6 p.m., your entire team could head out to try to make a last lap before the cut-off.)
Winners get swag and bragging rights, and there'll be entertainment and giveaways. Solo and duo winners also get cash prizes (30% of the total entry fees in respective categories).
Registration deadline is Feb. 17.
Let us know if you enter. Especially if you win!
FYI: The base of Sunlight Mountain is (8,225 feet. The summt is 9,708 feet.
