A reminder from Colorado Ski Country USA during Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month in Colorado:
January is an ideal time to learn to ski or snowboard. Deals on lessons and rentals abound, from discounted first-time lessons to beginner program packages, complete with hotel accommodations. Check out the list below for a complete list of deals from across Colorado Ski Country (does not include Vail Resorts ski areas):
ARAPAHOE BASIN
A-Basin is offering Super Sundays during Learn to Ski and Snowboard month. Take advantage of $75 first-time lessons, and half-day group lessons Jan. 22 and 29. This deal on beginner lift tickets will help you perfect your turns.
ASPEN/SNOWMASS
New skiers and snowboarders ages 5 to teens can take a Beginner’s Magic™ lesson for $139. The lesson includes instruction, rental equipment and beginner’s lift access. There's also an Adult Beginner’s Magic™ lesson at Snowmass and Buttermilk, with single day prices of $199, or $189 if purchased 7 days in advance. (Get three full days for $405, or $387 if purchased 7 days in advance.)
CRESTED BUTTE
The Butte is offering a free day of lifts, lessons and rentals to aspiring skiers and riders who book a two-night stay at any Crested Butte Mountain Resort property. The offer includes each person on the reservation. The Learn to Ski for Free special is available through March 9. A two-night minimum stay in a CBMR property is required. An upgrade is available for a full-access lift ticket and lesson for more experienced skiers. Info: Crested Butte Vacations at 800-600-2803.
ECHO MOUNTAIN
Echo Mountain’s Mini Mountaineers is for skiers ages 4-5 and snowboarders age 5. For three weeks, students in Mini Mountaineers will have the same instructor and the same peers of similar ability in their class. Snowboard classes are limited to 3 students per class. In January, classes are offered Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. or from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. Cost for skiers is $115. Cost for snowboarders is $160. Equipment rental is $60.
ELDORA
Eldora’s First Timer Lesson Packages provides new skiers and riders with a 4-hour group lesson, rental equipment and a lift ticket for $119.
LOVELAND
Loveland’s 3-Class Pass for first-time skiers and riders includes a pass valid for the remainder of the season upon completion of the third lesson.
MONARCH
Monarch is offering a special learn to ski or ride package that includes an all-day beginner lift ticket, equipment rental, 1.75-hour lesson and beverage for $99 ($89 for ages 7-12).
POWDERHORN
The ski area's first-timer special is under way, but there are plenty of lessons available throughout the season at the Ski and Ride Center.
PURGATORY AT DURANGO MOUNTAIN RESORT
Purgatory is launching a new initiative for January Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month (except Jan. 13-16): a beginner package that includes three half-day lessons, rental equipment and lift tickets for $99. Students can then purchase a pass valid for the remainder of the season for $99. There's also a half-day learn to ski/ride special that includes lesson, rental and beginner lift ticket for $49.
SOLVISTA BASIN
The Get on the Snow Program for first-timer skiers and riders ages 10 or older includes a pass valid for the rest of the season after completion of two lessons, and a 20 percent discount coupon valid for a retail merchandise purchase. (Not available Jan. 13-16.)
STEAMBOAT
The Steamboat Ski & Snowboard school’s Learn to Ski & Learn to Ride Packages offer three days of instruction, gear rental, lift tickets and the same instructor for all three days of instruction. Discount possible if you book 7 or more days in advance.
SUNLIGHT
The Learn to Shine lesson program during January (Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month) is a 3-day program that rental, lift ticket, and two hour-long lessons for $325. Students get a free 5-day pass after the second lesson.
