Actually, this ride/race sounds fairly epic, but I think that's the point of its name: the AntiEpic.
When everything is labeled "epic," what really is?
Regardless of how you label it, I'd say Ben Welnak is planning a GREAT spring event. I'll give you a rundown here, but check out his blog to read more and follow developments in coming weeks. The tentative date for this rural Colorado lovefest on two wheels is April 7, but that could change.
This is 150 self-supported miles of wind and "soul sucking" gravel, Welnak says.
That's right: no drop bags, no food/water/aid/cheering stations. There's also no T-shirt, no goody bag and no AE150 sticker for your car.
Just a full day of riding through beautiful Colorado countryside.
150 miles, mostly on hardpack gravel, starting and finishing at Greenland Open Space. Here's the proposed route.
If you are interested, please email Ben at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . And let OutThereColorado know if you're planning to ride. We may have to join this adventure!
Ben says a group may ride 4-5 hours of the course on Sunday. Check his blog for updates on that action.
And he says on Twitter that about 20 people already are "in" or "maybes" for the AntiEpic. Which is, um ... awesome!
