BRECKENRIDGE — When he was little, Bobby Brown dreamed of being on the U.S. Ski Team. He finally made it this year, but not in a way he could have envisioned. A dream he thought died long ago came true this year when the International Olympic Committee added slopestyle skiing to the 2014 Games, along with slopestyle snowboarding, halfpipe skiing and women's ski jumping. Brown, a Cherry Creek High School grad who grew up skiing at Breckenridge, wanted to be a freestyle moguls skier when he was little. Loved the jumps, but not the bumps, so he migrated to the terrain park as a teenager where he could focus on tricks. "After I went into the park, I was like, 'That dream's kind of washed up,' so it's pretty insane that I have that ability,' " Brown said. "I'm on the U.S. Ski Team now, and it's pretty cool that I have a chance to actually go to the Olympics for the sport I really love doing." The Sochi Olympics are more than two years away, but already the sport is buzzing about slopestyle's inclusion.
