If you're planning a ski day, head south or southwest.

A storm moving through Colorado dumped snow overnight, and is expected to dump up to 4 inches Tuesday and another 3 to 5 inches by Wednesday morning.

Wolf Creek (above) reported 6 inches of snow overnight with more snow on the way.

Durango Mountain Resort reported 8 inches overnight with snow likely throughout the day.

Telluride is reporting 2 inches, but snow is expected into Wednesday.

The chance of precipitation throughout the area is 80 percent, meteorologist Jim Daniels told The Durango Herald. The chance at Wolf Creek is 100 percent.

CDOT spokeswoman Nancy Shanks said driving conditions could be hazardous. “Motorists should be alert for possible road closures for clearance or avalanche control,” Shanks said. “We have 19 snowplows, with half of them working at any given time if crews go on 12-hour shifts.”

An entire swath of the mountains were put on avalanche alert.
