Monday, December 12, 2011 20:08

Hey, climbers: Looking for a bit of inspiration?

Join Jes Meiris and Bo Parsons at 8 p.m. Friday (Dec. 16) downtown at City Rock as they share a slide show of photos - and give you the inside scoop - on the rich climbing history of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

"The Black" is home to the biggest walls in Colorado.

The evening is a fundraiser for the Rocky Mountain Field Institute, which serves to preserve and restore key natural areas through stewardship, education and research. The local nonprofit has built climbing access trails at Shelf Road, Indian Creek, South Colony Lakes Basin and Garden of the Gods, among others.

Entry is $10. There will be complimentary beer from Phantom Canyon and snacks.
