More than 100 runners braved frigid conditions Saturday morning in support of a good cause and to show off some awful items previously hidden deep inside of closets.

Winds howled throughout Monument Valley Park, but that didn't affect the festive atmosphere for the Ugly Christmas Sweater 5K. Most participants sported holiday garb for the 3.1-mile run.

The event benefitted the Cerebral Palsy Association of Colorado Springs, a non-profit that assists individuals who have cerebral palsy and related neuro-motor disabilities, in addition to providing support to their families and education to the public.

Runners wearing particularly ugly sweaters received special “awards” for their efforts.
